The snake trail is basically gone due to forestry work. I didn't know this and had to navigate it somehow That's the trail.
It's a great area and I can see that gets a fair bit of use from bikers but I only saw 1 in my 3 hours on the trail today. We liked it. Easy family hike. Cut out a bit of the loop by cutting over on another trail just past the river. Not much elevation change at all. The end of the loop marked on this map going counterclockwise was one way so we followed signs to parking lot that led us in a different path.
It was also beautiful but a bit longer of a hike. Great trail. Lots of optional routes. Only saw 2 other people and they were on mountain bikes. Not sure why it is called the summit ridge loop. Never saw that trail name listed. I went to the location on the map, and found some developing paths - one bisected by railroad tracks.

To get to this death trap, take the hill side trail to some undeveloped rough stone road under crackling power lines that are overgrown with scotch broom and black berry vines. Ride around the loop and look for the occasional trails jetting off here and there.Most of the XC trails in Summit Ridge are twisty, flowy, and technical trails with numerous bridges, skinnies, log rides, and ladders.
The forest is fairly open with decent sight lines, and there are sections of amazine foxglove meadows. There is also a flow park at Summit Ridge. What the flow park lacks in quantity compared to something like Duthie Hillit makes up for in quality! There are one or two lines suitable for beginners, one or two suitable for intermediates to advanced, and a few massively-burly lines for the experts to pros.
There's plenty of acerage for as many trails as we want on public lands. The best advocacy we can do is be good stewards of the land and trails. Packing out trash, being polite to other trail users, and presenting a good image of mountain bikers will ensure King County keeps the trails open.

Everyone from Olympic athletes to up-and-coming racers to freestyle enthusiasts descend on our Palmer Snowfield between the months of June and September. Much of the terrain is reserved by various camps and organizations, but we always maintain open areas to the public so intermediate and more advanced skiers and riders can enjoy summertime turns on the South slopes of Mt.
Please note, Summer Camps and public use are assigned specific lane space daily. Each day, as Summer Camps leave the hill and vacate their lanes, that space is then opened to the public.
We wish it was possible to maintain the Palmer Chair during the winter — but frequent and heavy winter storms coat the lift towers in thick snow and ice. These storms often have wind speeds exceeding mph and brutally cold temperatures. These factors make de-icing the lift virtually impossible.
In the spring, Palmer Chairlift gets a full maintenance check to prepare it for summer operations. Timberline offers the longest ski season in North America. In ideal years, lifts are open October through August, with maintenance scheduled for each September. Skiers, snowboarders, and sightseers ride up the Magic Mile chairlift to the Palmer Glacier and its lift, where most of the summer skiing takes place, particularly later in the season.
In contrast to winter operations when weekends are the busiest, the lifts are the thriving during the summer ski season Monday through Friday, mostly due to ski and snowboard camps. The central section of the MHT is home to 3 covered bridges that you get to traverse. The trail comes to Claridon Woodlands, a Geauga Park District property that makes for a very nice rest stop. This park has a large pond, woodland trails, a pump track and a ropes course. I was happy enough to see the picnic tables and take my halfway break from the trail.
The central section also passes Headwaters Park, where you can normally find restrooms and water. The south section sports 2 more covered bridges. They almost look like big red barns as you ride through them. After a lengthy ride through the woods comes the Village of Middlefield where a half mile of trail is unfinished. The path appears to end at Geauga Vision, where I saw a sign offering free cold water bottles inside their store.

There are some single tracks off to the sides to explore. Excellent trail. Long, flat, and plenty to see. It gets a little hilly around Cuyahoga Park. But if you want to push your endurance this is for you. I rollersake the trails, definitely fun, but there are a few patches of leaves that are rough to pass through.

There are a good bit of road crossings, minor and major, but they don't impede biking much. Biking through the residential areas can be a nightmare if you are trying to do the trails yourself especially the area just south of Stow High School.
